Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It became the number streaming music of that moment within just six months. The single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton with pop music, not only brought new focus to reggaeton, but also brought more attention to Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish predominantly, as well as four tracks in 2016. During the height of Despacito's popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. Soon, other artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars like Drake as well as Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019 Certain reggaeton performers lamented the trend towards mainstream music in the year 2020. However, a brand newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. He incorporated electronic dance styles and other genres into his songs.
